Loosdrecht

Loosdrecht is best known as a water sports village with five connected recreational lakes. The Loosdrechtse Plassen were created by peat extraction from peatland in the 16th century.

There are many recreational homes in parks around the Loosdrechtse Plassen. You can also find many catering establishments here as well as several ports for pleasure cruising. Further, you can enjoy the view of many monumental buildings as well as tarred houses with thatched roofs. Finally, the castle that Jhr. C.H.C.A. Sypesteyn had built on the basis of a fantasy at the beginning of 1900, can be found in Loosdrecht as well. He also brought his collection of antiques there, with Loosdrecht's porcelain.
