Cuijk

Cuijk is an "oldie" in Brabant. The village on the Meuse has existed for more than twenty centuries. Romans settled there, built a castellum and a bathhouse and bridge. But before that, the area was inhabited by Celts who kept cattle. In the Middle Ages, Cuijk was governed by the Lords of Cuijk, who transferred the town's city rights to neighboring Grave. Gradually, Cuijk developed from an agricultural town with famous cattle to an impressive industrial town with well-known companies such as Homburg and Nutricia.
